vs. Badshot Lea - July 19

A devastating spell of new ball bowling by Will Marks, which included a hat-trick, led Headley to a crushing 168 run victory over Badshot Lea. The young paceman could only bowl a 7 over spell, but with Badshot Lea chasing a total of 236 for victory, he made his short spell count as he took each of first 6 Badshot Lea wickets to fall for a total of just 16 runs. Backed up by some good catching behind the stumps, he had already taken 3 wickets when he came to bowl his 6th over and proved to be too good for Gray, Turner and Scanlon as he claimed a fine hat-trick. Badshot Lea had no way back from 25 for 6 and the rest of the Headley attack worked their way through the batting order to dismiss their hosts for 67 and claim maximum points.

Earlier in the day, Headley had looked untroubled early on as Ashley Cook and Ciaran Rooney built a steady opening partnership. However, suddenly the ball started to move around and Headley lost some wickets in mid innings. However, Dom Nott calmed the innings before Tim Salm came in to muscle his way to fine 68 which included 4 sixes and allowed a declaration after 42 overs. From then on, Marks took centre stage as Headley looked to get their season back on track
